Orion (our 2006 CR-V) is in the shop.

Looking at a 4k to 5k price tag. Why? Because there's at least one oil leak, if not more and that means seals need replacing.

Guy started to say it might be more feasible to replace the car, & I was like, nope, we are not in a position for a new vehicle right now.

So we repair and get another 5-10 years out of him. Especially since this is the only serious issue with him. (Knock on wood.)

Maybe next year we'll be better able to afford a second vehicle.

Meanwhile, we tighten the belts another notch, keep our heads down and keep going.

Hondas, for the most part, are a very reliable vehicle. Upkeep is usually tires, light bulbs, brake pads and other replaceables. We've a 2011 Fit. You'll get a lot more use. Your repair is still cheaper than a car payment.

Gods yes it is.

the initial repair was for the oil leak, which ended up breing around 500.00 (the VTC oil solenoid seal gave out).

But there's fluids that have never, ever been flushed, and an oxygen sensor that's bad, so we went a head and said, do it all. So far, around 3k in work.

We replaced the transmission about 5 years ago, have replaced he starter once since w3e've owned it (bought it in 2010), the batter a few times, and it's been a very, very good vehicle for us.

Sure the CD player no longer works and is holding 6 discs hostage, but the radio still does, heh. Sure the AC needs a charge but the windows still open, so who cares.}:P

No rust, no holes, newish tires, hauls everything we need and then some. So why bother getting a new vehicle right now. Fix it and keep going.

I’ve heard that the reliability of the Honda Fits varies a lot by year.

Thanks for that link! We're looking at replacement vehicles and knowing that those kind of comparisons exist will make our lives ever so much better.
